So, you’ve booked a Skin & Nail Assessment as a new patient at Supafoot, but you’re not quite sure what to expect?
Don’t worry — your first appointment is all about understanding your feet, tackling any concerns you have and getting you started with a treatment plan that’s right for you.
First, we’ll chat about your feet
Your podiatrist will talk to you about any problems or concerns you’ve been having. This could be anything from a troublesome nail to a painful corn, verruca or change in your skin.
We’ll also ask a few questions about your foot health and how your feet are affecting you day to day.
We’ll take a closer look
Your podiatrist will carry out a thorough examination of your feet, looking at the condition of your skin and nails.
We’ll check things such as skin quality, colour, dryness, swelling and any changes that may need attention. We’ll also assess your nails and look for signs of conditions such as fungal nails, ingrowing toenails or other nail problems.
We’ll check your circulation
As part of your assessment, we’ll carry out a vascular check. This includes looking at the skin on your feet and feeling the pulses in your feet.
This gives us a better understanding of the blood supply to your feet and helps us identify anything that may need further investigation.
Once we’ve completed your assessment, your podiatrist will explain what they have found and answer any questions you may have.
Then we’ll make a plan together
Depending on what we find, your treatment plan could involve anything from a one-off treatment to ongoing care.
We can help with a wide range of skin and nail concerns, including:
- Thick or troublesome nails
- Fungal nails
- Ingrowing toenails
- Verrucas
- Corns and calluses
- Dry, cracked or damaged skin
- Other skin or nail conditions affecting your feet
By the end of your appointment, you’ll have a much clearer understanding of what’s happening with your feet and what we recommend doing next.
Our aim is to give you the right treatment and advice to help keep your feet comfortable, healthy and able to do the things you enjoy.
