At Supafoot, we’re always looking for the best ways to help our patients feel better, faster. That’s why we’ve upgraded our shockwave therapy machine – from radial to focused shockwave therapy. This means we can now treat pain more accurately and effectively than ever before.
What Is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy uses sound waves to boost healing in sore or damaged tissues. It improves blood flow, reduces pain, and helps your body repair itself – all without the need for surgery or injections. There are two types of shockwave therapy:
- Radial shockwave therapy – uses lower-energy waves that spread out over a wider area.
- Focused shockwave therapy – uses stronger waves that reach deeper into the tissue and target a specific area.
Why We Chose Focused Shockwave Therapy
We’ve had great success with radial shockwave therapy over the years. But focused shockwave therapy offers even more benefits:
- More Accurate Treatment
Focused waves can target deep and specific areas of pain, which makes the treatment more precise. - Stronger, Faster Results
Because the energy is focused right where it’s needed, healing can be quicker and pain relief more noticeable. - Ideal for Long-Term Injuries
If you’ve had pain that won’t go away, focused shockwave therapy can help restart the healing process.
Conditions We Treat with Focused Shockwave Therapy
This advanced treatment is great for foot and leg pain that hasn’t improved with rest, stretching, or other treatments. We often use it for:
- Plantar fasciitis – heel pain from damage to the tissue on the bottom of the foot
- Achilles tendinopathy – pain or stiffness in the Achilles tendon
- Shin splints – pain in the lower leg, often from overuse
- Heel spurs – bony lumps that cause pain when walking
- Morton’s neuroma – a painful nerve condition in the ball of the foot
- Foot and ankle tendinopathies – long-lasting tendon pain or injury
What to Expect During Treatment
A typical session lasts about 10–15 minutes. You might feel a little discomfort, but we can adjust the settings to suit you. Many patients feel some pain relief straight away and notice more improvement after a few sessions. Most people need between 3 to 6 treatments, depending on how serious or long-lasting the injury is.
