Corns
A corn on the foot is a small, thickened area of skin that develops due to repeated pressure or friction, often from tight shoes or abnormal walking patterns. Corns typically form on the tops and sides of toes or on the sole of the foot and can be hard (dry and dense) or soft (found between toes with a rubbery texture).
While corns are generally harmless, they can become painful under pressure. Treatment involves removing the source of friction, wearing properly fitting shoes, and sometimes gently removing the thickened skin. A podiatrist can safely treat stubborn or painful corns, especially if there’s an underlying foot issue.
