What is podiatry?
Podiatry encompasses a whole range of disciplines; Nail and skin care, diabetic foot care, biomechanics and gait analysis, orthotic prescription and minor surgical procedures (nail surgery and verruca needling) using local anaesthetic.
Many people ask what the difference is between these two professions. In reality there is not much difference at all.
Musculoskeletal podiatry and orthotics
If you are experiencing any pain in the muscles or bones in your foot, this may mean the mechanics of your feet are not working as well as they could.
If a patient has an ingrowing toenail or fungal infection one option for treatment is to remove part or all of the nail under local anaesthetic.
